About Cents & Chapters

Money writing without the finance-bro vocabulary.

This is a small, independent site about getting money under control — not about building a portfolio. It is written in the first person, by one person, and there is no photograph of me on it. What you get instead is the arithmetic: what a method cost, how long I kept it up, and what it actually changed at the end of the month.

What you will find here

  • Budget — methods compared honestly, including the ones I abandoned in week three.
  • Saving — no-spend weeks, sinking funds, and what they really cost afterwards.
  • Debt-Free — snowball, avalanche, and the maths behind choosing one.
  • Investing for Beginners — the few terms worth learning first.
  • What I’m Reading — notes from money books, one at a time.

How I work

  • Every figure here comes from a real month. Where a number is an estimate, the article says so.
  • A method gets written up only after I have used it, and the parts that failed get their own paragraph.
  • Articles carry a date and are updated when the numbers change.
  • If an affiliate link ever appears, it is marked in the article itself.
  • Nothing here is financial advice — it is one household’s bookkeeping, written down carefully.

Why there is no photo

A monogram, not a portrait. I would rather be judged on whether the sums add up than on a face next to them, and I am not going to invent a person who does not exist. The voice is mine, the numbers are mine, and the name stays off the page.
